The Weetabix Food Company has today published its 2025/2026 Sustainability Report, setting out the progress made over the past year and reaffirming its long-term commitment to readying the nation with nutritious goodness, made the right way. The report highlights how this purpose continues to guide the business’s approach to responsible sourcing, lower-carbon production and creating a positive impact for people, communities and the food on our breakfast tables.
The report marks a significant milestone in Weetabix’s sustainability journey, with the company achieving independent validation of its near-term, Net Zero and FLAG targets by the Science Based Targets Initiative. This validation confirms that Weetabix’s climate ambitions are credible, science-led and aligned with the goals of the Paris Agreement, and provides a clear framework for continued progress towards net zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2050.
Weetabix highlights tangible progress across its four sustainability pillars: Sourcing, Product, Operations and Social Responsibility. Over the past year, the business has deepened its partnerships with British wheat farmers through its Growers Group, expanding greenhouse gas assessments and trialling lower-carbon farming methods.
Trials have been carried out using lower levels of nitrogen fertiliser whilst using regenerative agriculture techniques to help maintain yield. These smaller scale trials have been expanded to whole field trials, and in 2025 Weetabix sourced over 800 tonnes of wheat produced with lower fertilizer levels, resulting in a significant reduction in carbon emissions compared to the standard. The quantity sourced was used to make over 30,000,000 Weetabix biscuits.
Despite challenging weather conditions, these collaborations have delivered valuable insights and laid the foundations to scale the production of less carbon-intensive wheat in the years ahead.

Operationally, Weetabix has surpassed its target to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 20 percent against a 2018 baseline, while continuing to explore alternative energy sources to further decarbonise its manufacturing sites. In parallel, the company has made strong progress in reducing the environmental impact of its packaging, achieving a 13 percent reduction in packaging carbon footprint and exceeding its plastic reduction targets.
Alongside its environmental ambitions and stewardship, the report also underscores Weetabix’s long-standing commitment to people and communities. Since 2014, the company has redistributed more than 25 million breakfast servings through its partnerships with FareShare and Magic Breakfast, including 1.3 million bowls of cereal in the past year alone, helping to support children and families facing food insecurity. In parallel, Weetabix continues to invest in its workforce and future talent through expanded apprenticeship programmes, mental health support across manufacturing teams and a sustained focus on inclusion.
Weetabix takes pride in the journey toward workplace equity it has undertaken over the last five years, guided by its ‘inclusion without exception’ vision. Since 2021, when the median gender pay gap stood at 3.4%, the company has made consistent and meaningful strides to foster a more balanced environment. This long-term commitment has resulted in a 2025 median gender pay gap of just 1.6%, a figure that stands significantly below the national median of 6.9%.
These results are the product of sustained investment in gender-neutral recruitment and a commitment to workforce development, contributing to a 5% year-on-year increase in employee inclusivity scores. As the business continues this trajectory, it remains dedicated to the goal of reaching gender pay parity while continuing to foster a balanced environment for all colleagues.

Colm O’Dwyer, Managing Director of Weetabix Food Company UK & Ireland, said: “This year’s report shows what’s possible when our people work together with a clear sense of why we do what we do. Despite a challenging year, shaped by difficult weather conditions for our farmers and wider external pressures, we’ve continued to make meaningful progress alongside our colleagues and partners. The validation of our science-based targets gives us real confidence in the direction we’re heading and the standards we set for ourselves. We’re proud of how far we’ve come, and even more motivated by what lies ahead as we keep learning, collaborating and ensuring the food we make is produced responsibly and to be enjoyed for generations to come.”
By combining clear targets, transparent reporting and strong partnerships across its supply chain and communities, Weetabix continues to demonstrate how a trusted British brand can play a meaningful role in shaping a more sustainable future.
