Strong start for The Wholesale Group

Company News

At its inaugural Charity Golf Day, The Wholesale Group announced a strong set of year-to-date figures.

“Just six months from the launch of The Wholesale Group in January, we’re seeing Value at +2.47% and Volume at +2.13%, and we’re absolutely delighted that we are delivering on our promises to achieve growth for both members and suppliers,”

said Tom Gittins, Joint Managing Director.

“At our launch, we announced that The Wholesale Group was the buying group the sector needs, and we are delighted to provide an efficient, powerful route to market for suppliers, while celebrating and championing the incredible family businesses that make up our membership.”

The figures were announced at the group’s first ever Charity Golf Day which took place on Tuesday 10 June at The Rushmore Golf Club attended by a mix of wholesalers and suppliers.

The event, sponsored by Coca-Cola European Partners, Carlsberg Britvic and Kellanova, was a great success, offering non-golfers the opportunity to enjoy a clay pigeon shoot. It also provided The Wholesale Group retail board the opportunity to meet at the 12th century King John’s House, situated within the Rushmore Estate.

Feedback from suppliers was overwhelmingly positive. Gavin Simpson, Carlsberg Britvic said:

“This event was a fantastic opportunity to network with key wholesalers, reviewing a fantastic start to the year and planning for the second half of the year. The Wholesale Group events are always meticulously planned which makes it easy for us to gain the most value from time away from the desk.”

Members also agreed, including Ryan Torrible from North West Teas:

“We had a fantastic time in Dorset this week for The Wholesale Group event. The one-to-one business sessions were really well timed so that we can ensure we maximise opportunities for the rest of the year, while I enjoyed my first attempt at clay pigeon shooting, something I hope to do more of in the future,”

he said.

The event raised £15,000 for The Eloise & Katie Memorial Trust, a charity supporting projects across the UK for disadvantaged young people.

Later this year, The Wholesale Group will be hosting its Foodservice Fair in Stratford upon Avon on 11 September 2025. Its annual conference will be held in Tenerife on 9-12 October 2025.
