We’re thrilled to share some exciting news from Pizza Pilgrims – they have officially secured BCORP certification, joining over 8,000 businesses globally and more than 1,500 in the UK, that want to use their businesses as ‘a force for good’.
Over the last two years, the whole team at Pizza Pilgrims, across every element of the business, have been working to secure BCORP accreditation and achieve their ultimate mission – to make people happier, one pizza at a time!
To achieve BCORP certification, Pizza Pilgrims had to display verified performance, accountability, and transparency, on factors such as employee pay & benefits; engagement with its community; positive practices in the supply chain; and a long-term commitment to reduce its environmental impact.
Solidifying Pizza Pilgrims commitment to the BCORP certification, they made a legal commitment by changing their corporate governance structure to be accountable to all stakeholders, not just shareholders.
To Pizza Pilgrims, BCORP is much more than a certification, it is a strategic pillar that will influence the current and future business. After turning 10 years old in August 2023, Pizza Pilgrims is embarking on the next stage of its exciting journey, with BCORP at the heart of all that it does.
Founder Thom Elliot says: “Ever since I first read about BCORP – I have felt it is a movement that I want Pizza Pilgrims to be a part of. We started the company to be a source of happiness – both for ourselves, but also our employees, customers, and the communities we serve. To have BCORP as a hugely credible third-party guide and inspiration for ensuring Pizza Pilgrims is a force for good in the future is an exciting step – and one I am proud to have achieved with the team.
Pizza Pilgrims looks forward to being a part of the BCORP movement, sharing ideas and thoughts with other members of the community to be better every day. They hope to be an inspiration, and a source of education, for other hospitality businesses who are also keen to join the movement.
